The Missouri Department of Social Services' Office of Workforce and Community Initiatives (DSS-OWCI) has started a new bidding process offering up to $14,135 to organizations that help people with parenthood challenges. This funding is available for Maternity Homes, Diaper Banks, and Pregnancy Resource Centers in Missouri to help them grow their services and provide essential items to families.
The initiative provides critical resources, including prenatal care referrals, parenting education, and supplies such as diapers and formula, with the objective of improving maternal and child health outcomes in alignment with the department's long-standing commitment to the cause. In an official announcement, highlighted in a bulletin published by the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) on December 3rd, DSS Director Jess Bax emphasized the significance of these services, stating, "Maternity Homes, Diaper Banks, and Pregnancy Resource Centers provide services that are vital supports for many Missouri families," and adding that "This funding will help ensure that more parents and caregivers have access to the support they need during the most important moments in their lives."
Organizations can apply for this funding. If the total amount requested by eligible applicants is less than the total available funding, extra money may be given to those organizations that participate. This detail is included to encourage many organizations to apply and to ensure the allocated resources are fully used. More information and the process for submitting a bid are available on the Department's Bidding Opportunity webpage; reference Solicitation number SDA549262.
