A woman was found shot and killed yesterday in West Dallas, a stark start to the weekend along a stretch of road that has already seen more than its share of trouble this year. Dallas police said officers and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a shooting call in the 1200 block of Singleton Boulevard shortly after 8:30 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and officials have not released her identity.
Police response and early findings
According to The Dallas Morning News, which cited a Dallas Police Department news release, officers arrived in the 1200 block of Singleton Boulevard shortly after 8:30 a.m. and found a woman who had been shot. Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the woman died at the scene, and authorities have not released her name.
Recent incidents along the Singleton corridor
The Singleton corridor has been the site of several violent incidents this year and has become a focus of community safety concerns. For example, FOX 4 reported an earlier convenience-store shooting on Singleton that led to charges in November, and residents have been urging city leaders to reexamine industrial zoning and safety along the stretch. Neighborhood efforts to push for safety and land-use changes were recently chronicled in Hoodline.
