Families across the country are continuing the holiday tradition of going to the movies, with theaters like Cinemark seeing increased attendance during the Christmas season. Popular releases such as "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants," are drawing audiences of all ages looking to spend time together.
For many, the outing is about more than just the films. Frances Camaione-Lind told RochesterFirst, "So this is a tradition my family has had the whole time we’ve been a family. We do this every year, we go out to the movies and then we go and get Indian food," according to RochesterFirst.
As some businesses remain closed for the holiday, movie theaters continue to operate and draw families looking for an activity. Brandon Ezell said, “Whenever we do actually get everybody together, we always like to have dinner and then go out and digest it during the movie,” as reported by News4JAX. Families such as the Adams have attended Christmas movies for more than 10 years, and James Adams said, “It’s really nice to spend time with the family and just have an easy day,” as per FOX2Now. Some theaters are also offering holiday promotions, including Marcus Theaters, which is providing scratch cards to moviegoers.
