The City of New Braunfels is rolling out the welcome mat for its residents, asking for their voices to be heard regarding the new Southeast Branch Library. The public's ideas and opinions will be front and center at an Open House event slated for December 16th, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., where the community can engage directly with the project's schematic design. The gathering is happening at the Klein Road Elementary School Cafeteria, which is situated at 2620 Klein Way, as per an announcement on the City of New Braunfels official website.
Earlier voter approval in the 2023 Bond Program has set the wheels in motion for the forthcoming 24,000-square-foot Southeast Branch Library, designed by Ford, Powell & Carson Planners and Architects, the facility, sited at the corner of Walnut Avenue and Settler’s Crossing promises to be a beacon for the written word, with its dedicated youth and children's areas, outdoor coding programming, maybe even the latest in digital storytelling formats and offering community meeting spaces, and it's ideally placed within a stone’s throw of six schools, marking it as the first library resource in the Guadalupe County area of the city, according to the City of New Braunfels.
Detailed specifics of the library’s plans, which embrace areas designed specifically for varying community needs, will be open for review, demonstrating the final touches of the interior and exterior design of the library. Attendees will feast their eyes on updates to the layout, changes in the facade of the building, and a deep dive into the designated zones for different forms of learning and interaction. The Open House is as much a listening session as it is an exhibit, with the city staff and architects ready to field questions and actively incorporate public perspective into the project’s blueprint, as per the City of New Braunfels.
