Firefighters doused a blaze at a Novato liquor store early yesterday, with crews responding rapidly to the emergency in the heart of downtown. The Novato Fire Protection District reported that at approximately 8:00 AM, they were dispatched to the 800 block of Grant Avenue after reports of a structure fire.
Upon arriving at the scene, the first responders were met with a significant fire at a single-story convenience store, with flames visible from the front of the store. The professional swiftness of the firefighters allowed them to gain control of the situation promptly. Their tactics included forcing entry, pulling hoselines for an aggressive attack, and ensuring that the fire's reach did not extend to neighboring buildings or the attic space above.
A ladder truck proved crucial for accessing the roof to provide vertical ventilation, effectively improving the interior conditions by removing the heat and smoke build-up. This technique, combined with the ground efforts, ensured that firefighters could safely push forward in their operations. Information obtained from the Novato Fire Protection District's social media post indicates that, despite the potential danger, the incident resulted in no injuries, a testament to the prompt and coordinated response from the fire crews and their allies from the Marinwood Fire Department, San Rafael Fire Department, and the Novato Police Department.
