Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has escalated efforts to apprehend an accused murderer, by placing the suspect on the state's 10 Most Wanted list. This measure seeks the public's assistance in locating individuals who have evaded the law, such as the case involving the death of 25-year-old Eriyon Tecson, according to the Oklahoma Attorney General.
On December 7, Jenks police responded to a fatal collision wherein the vehicle, driven by the suspect Cazares, struck Tecson. Initially, Cazares claimed the incident was an accident, asserting that Tecson stepped out in front of the vehicle unannounced. However, Cazares' alleged impairment at the scene raised doubts about this version of events, with reports of slurred speech and an odor of alcohol leading to his arrest for manslaughter. Despite these charges, he was quickly released after posting a $50,000 bond, only to then fail to appear for his arraignment, as per the information detailed on the Oklahoma Attorney General's 10 Most Wanted page.
Subsequent revelations further implicated Cazares. Surveillance footage secured by Jenks High School reportedly displayed Tecson at a safe distance when Cazares’ vehicle drove into her. The video suggests an intentional act, as Cazares appears to accelerate a second time after the initial impact, trapping the victim under the car. These findings were further supported by Cazares' passenger, who confirmed that their initial statements to law enforcement were fabricated, as reported by the Oklahoma Attorney General.
Following these developments, "the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office charged Cazares with first degree murder," according to the Oklahoma Attorney General official announcement. As Cazares remains at large, Drummond has offered up to a $3,000 reward for information leading directly to his capture. "I urge any individual with information on Cazares' whereabouts to contact our agency," Drummond stated, emphasizing the gravity of the crime and the community's role in securing justice for Tecson.
Launched in September 2024, the 10 Most Wanted list serves as a strategy to engage the public in locating violent criminals accused of egregious offenses including, but not limited to, murder and drug trafficking. Since its inception, the initiative has played a critical role in the capture of 17 fugitives, reflecting its effectiveness as a key tool for law enforcement in Oklahoma, as per the Oklahoma Attorney General.
