Oscar Medina, 56, has been found guilty on multiple counts of sexual assault against minors. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported on a social media post that Medina was arrested following an investigation into alleged assaults involving a child between the ages of 5 and 8.
The Johnston County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that last Thursday, a jury convicted Oscar Medina of rape, sexual offenses, and indecent liberties with a child. The offenses, which spanned several years, involved multiple victims. Superior Court Judge Tiffany Powers sentenced Medina to a prison term of 26 to 33 years.
Assistant District Attorney Caitlin Slavin highlighted the resilience of the victims. The District Attorney’s Office also acknowledged the work of the investigation team and jury, noting that the community can take reassurance that the convicted individual will no longer pose a threat to children.
