The budgetary allocation, earmarked for the 2025-26 fiscal year, will serve to provide yearly bonuses to child care workers and assist in sustaining quality child care access for families across the Commonwealth.
With a spotlight turned on the Patton Avenue Learning Center, DHS Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh will highlight the significance of these investments. Tagging the $25 million for the Child Care Staff Recruitment and Retention Program, the state hopes to issue a $450 bonus for each employee at licensed Child Care Works (CCW) providers. Noted for its potential effect on about 55,000 child care workers, this financial boost seeks to address stability concerns within the child care industry, as reported by PA Cast.
Additional funding, to the tune of $7.5 million, has been assigned to Pre-K Counts with the specific aim of helping providers elevate wages and affirm the early educator workforce's command.
