A routine traffic stop on Highway 101 turned into a firearms arrest for the Santa Rosa Police Department yesterday. According to their social media post, an officer pulled over a Toyota sedan around noon for a violation of the vehicle code, where an encounter unfolded that led to the discovery of concealed ammunition and a handgun. The passenger during the stop, seemingly unbidden, admitted to having ammunition in his possession, a revelation that prompted a more thorough search.
The Santa Rosa Police detailed that after the passenger's admission, a search revealed a semi-automatic Glock 26 handgun. Hidden inside a postage box with the driver's name on it, the firearm was not registered to either occupant of the vehicle. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Halton Greenberg from Petaluma, now faces charges that include carrying a concealed and loaded firearm.
On their Facebook page, Santa Rosa Police announced Greenberg's arrest, listing the specific violations: PC 25400(a)(1) – Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, PC 25850(a) – Carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Following the incident, Greenberg was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
