Yesterday, a Petaluma resident experienced a startling intrusion when a man trespassed into her backyard and committed burglary. Petaluma Police Department responded to a call at the 500 Block of S McDowell Blvd, where a woman reported seeing an unknown male on her Ring camera, in her backyard, and entering her laundry room to steal a pair of women’s underwear. According to the official report from the Petaluma Police Department, the suspect, later identified as Jose Jimenez-Gomez, was apprehended at approximately 7:07 AM yesterday.

Police located Jimenez-Gomez, 24, of Petaluma, based on the description given by the resident. Initially, he attempted to evade the officers, refusing to cooperate; however, he was eventually taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, Jimenez-Gomez was still in possession of the stolen underwear and faced charges for prowling and burglary.

The Petaluma Police Department’s swift response resulted in the immediate arrest and booking of Jimenez-Gomez into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of 647(h) PC (Prowling) and 459 PC (Burglary).

Following the incident, social media was abuzz with commentary, including a post by Henry K. Lee, which included a pointed summary of the situation. "Who are you? Get out…right now!" Lee highlighted the invasive nature of the crime and identified Jimenez-Gomez's alleged acts of burglary and prowling.
