Pierce County has rolled out an artful opportunity for local nonprofits seeking to enhance their communities through visual and performing arts. Starting today, the county invites nonprofit organizations situated outside the city limits of Tacoma to apply for the 2026 Art Grant program, as reported by Pierce County. This initiative is designed to expand access to the arts, mainly focusing on the county's youth and residents who face barriers to cultural experiences.
Funding for these ventures isn't insignificant—the grants vary, beginning at $500 and cresting at $5,000. Eligibility criteria require that projects be implemented within Pierce County's unincorporated territories and span from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2026. To secure a slice of the available funding, interested parties should mark their calendars. Applications are due by 2 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026.
Pierce County will be hosting a virtual workshop on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. to guide potential applicants through the process. This digital meeting is a chance to clarify doubts, pose questions, and understand the ins and outs that make for a compelling application.
The Pierce County Arts Commission has been championing local creativity since 1986, supporting artists and community projects through its longstanding grant program. In 2024, the county awarded $22,000 to seven projects, drawing more than 11,300 participants and generating over 30,000 hours of hands-on arts engagement. Nonprofits interested in applying can find full program details and workshop information on the Art Grant program website.
