The Placer County Sheriff's Office is keeping an evacuation warning in place near Cisco Grove as the South Yuba River begins to recede, noting that "river levels have dropped significantly since Sunday," increasing from 8 feet on Monday to about 15 feet on Tuesday morning. Despite this improvement, a Flood Watch remains in effect for much of Placer County due to an incoming storm system bringing rain, snow, and strong winds, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office on theri Facebook page.
Residents and travelers are advised to remain cautious, with officials emphasizing that "safety comes first" amid the High Wind and Winter Storm Warnings predicting gusts up to 60 mph and heavy snowfall in higher elevations, as reported by the Placer County Sheriff's Office. The upcoming storm may make mountain travel hazardous through Friday, so monitoring forecasts and adjusting plans is strongly recommended.
Placer County has emergency resources ready, including snowcats in Auburn, snowmobiles in Foresthill and Colfax, a dive team on standby, and sandbags at multiple locations. Evacuation warnings are in place. The Sheriff’s Office said: "We encourage everyone to stay informed, drive cautiously in wet conditions, and report hazardous situations," as mentioned by Hoodline. Authorities will provide updates as conditions change.
