Plant City Officer Demarcus Smith has been named Officer of the Year by the Olin S. Wright Lodge #79, the Plant City Police Department announced this week. The award recognizes his dedication and service to the community and includes a plaque as well as a forthcoming assignment in the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
At a ceremony marking both the 150th anniversary of the Olin S. Wright Lodge #79 and the presentation of an award, Officer Demarcus Smith received the Officer of the Year recognition alongside Chief Richard Mills, Jr., and Worshipful Master W. Charles P. Chancey, Jr. Chief Mills stated that Smith’s upcoming role as a detective reflects his service to the community, noting the ongoing connection between the lodge and local law enforcement.
In a social media post, the Plant City Police Department shared their congratulations to Officer Smith, stating, “Congratulations, Officer Smith—we are incredibly proud of you and honored to see you recognized for this tremendous achievement,” while also acknowledging the lodge’s 150 years of service.
