
As Kaua‘i closes out 2025, Preston Chong has been sworn in as the new Deputy Director of the County’s Department of Parks and Recreation on Monday. Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said, "Preston brings strong financial expertise, institutional knowledge, and steady leadership to this role," according to the County of Kauai.
Chong has been with the department since January 2020, serving as Parks Fiscal Officer and Acting Deputy Director since January of this year. In his new role, he will oversee fiscal strategies, administrative tasks, and daily operations to ensure local parks and facilities remain safe and well-maintained, as reported by the County of Kauai.
Chong was sworn in as the head of the County of Kaua‘i Department of Parks and Recreation. He said, "Our parks and recreation programs are vital community resources, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff to strengthen these services for residents and visitors alike," as stated by the County of Kauai. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
