Raleigh residents should brace for blustery conditions as Southwesterly winds are anticipated to intensify this morning and into the afternoon, with gusts ranging between 30 and 40 mph, peaking possibly at 45 mph over the Piedmont. The National Weather Service out of Raleigh, NC, advises securing loose outdoor items, including those festive holiday decorations that are used for embellishing the home during the season.
Forecasters project a partly sunny day today, with temperatures peaking near 51 degrees, and stiff winds from the south at 7 to 15 mph, kicking up at times with stronger gusts as high as 33 mph. Transitioning into the night, the cloud cover will thicken, eventually dispersing to reveal clearer skies, and a dip in temperature settling around 34 degrees. Anchored by a calmer southwest wind blowing at 7 to 10 mph, the drop in mercury shouldn't be ignored.
Looking ahead, Raleigh's weather trajectory holds a sunnier disposition with no significant disturbances on the horizon. Thursday promises sunshine and a comfortable high around 46 degrees, with a moderate west wind at 7 to 9 mph for a slight breeze. As the week unwinds, the temperature will toggle, reaching highs in the 40s and 50s, and retracting to lows in the 20s and 30s during the nights. The clarity of the skies will persist mostly, marred occasionally by transient clouds. "Hazardous weather is not expected at this time," the Hazardous Weather Outlook indicates, signaling a reprieve from the gusty onslaught the region will endure today.
