
Ramsey County has officially appointed Jaime Wilkins as the new Housing Stability Director, a role that promises to profoundly impact residents facing housing challenges. According to a statement released by the county's announcement, Wilkins is set to bring over twenty years of experience in housing and social services to the table. Deputy County Manager Karen Francois commended her, saying, “Jaime brings an exceptional blend of experience, leadership and deep community knowledge to this role,” highlighting Wilkins' qualifications to strategize and to potentially reshape the housing landscape in Ramsey County.
In her new role, Wilkins is to quickly get down to business, overseeing programs designed to bridge the gap between homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, and sustained housing stability. “I’m honored and excited to join Ramsey County in this role,” Wilkins told Ramsey County News. Her commitment to collaboration is evident, as her responsibilities include to closely with community organizations, government bodies, and state agencies to enhance the department's efficacy.
Wilkins' background is extensive, with a tenure encompassing vital leadership roles such as her most recent position as associate vice president of Economic Opportunity & Youth Support at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, and prior roles including senior director of Housing Services for Lutheran Social Services. Her academic background supports her practical experience, with a B.A. in early childhood education/child development and family studies and a master's degree in human services and leadership of organizational management from Capella University.
The county expects that Wilkins will deliver a dynamic approach to housing stability based on her history of service, including roles as the director of Housing & Supportive Services at YWCA St. Paul and direct support for county residents as a child protection worker and family advocate. Her dedication to community service extends beyond her professional duties, as she's also an active board member of HousingLink and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. She's set to officially join the team on Monday, Dec. 22, as announced by Ramsey County News. Wilkins' appointment could signify new horizons for those seeking housing security in the region.
