Mark Boatwright, 63, was sentenced to 160 years in prison for multiple sexual assaults against children, beginning when his first victim was just 5 years old. On Monday, he was found guilty of numerous charges, including nine counts of lewd acts with a child under 14 and ten counts of forcible rape, among other offenses, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
The abuse began subtly but escalated to sexual intercourse, oral copulation, and sodomy. Boatwright coerced his first victim into silence by threatening suicide if she spoke to authorities. A second victim, of a similar age, was also sexually assaulted, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators found sexually explicit photos of one victim with derogatory writing on her body on Boatwright's electronics, as well as contracts detailing sexual acts he demanded, including edits by a victim protesting the acts. In November 2024, as the victims reached adulthood, one came forward, leading to Boatwright’s arrest despite his attempt to flee.
Despite the severity of his crimes, Boatwright could be eligible for an Elder Parole hearing after serving 20 years, based on California law and in-custody credits.
