
Adding a new groove to its cityscape, San Augustine, Texas has earned the title of Music Friendly Texas Certified Community. The certification is a mark of recognition from the Texas Music Office (TMO), set to enhance music business economic development and job creation in the Lone Star State, an announcement made by the Office of the Texas Governor.
"With support from the Texas Music Office, the Texas music industry accounts for more than 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31 billion in annual economic activity statewide," said Governor Abbott, praising the achievements and potential of Texas music, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor news release. He added, "Together, we will continue to work alongside communities in every region of our state to create good-paying jobs and boost economic growth."
The local community of San Augustine, having completed a thorough multi-step certification process, looks forward to embracing the arts and establishing versatile venues for musical acts. Judge Jeff Boyd, looking proud of his city's new status, told the Office of the Texas Governor, "Music is the universal language for all. San Augustine has several venues that will be perfect locations for musicians to showcase their skills."
The official Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony, to be cohosted by TMO and the city, will feature key city officials and community leaders. Taking place on December 5 at the San Augustine County Courthouse Lawn Pavilion, it will precede the city's Lighted Christmas Parade. San Augustine claims the 91st spot in the state's roster of Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities. This initiative is a testament to TMO's commitment, since 1990, to support the growth and development of Texas's music businesses and communities. As such, the city joins a vibrant network of over 80 partners statewide who share a commitment to fostering Texas's distinctive sound and economic prosperity.
