
Seattle residents should prepare for continued heavy rain, with a 70% chance of showers on Friday and additional precipitation expected over the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Pierce, and Thurston counties due to high runoff and saturated soils.
"Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop." "Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Washington," including the White River near Mud Mountain Dam, where flows are near 9,000 cfs, reaching flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.
The Cedar River at Renton is at 13.1 feet, slightly above flood stage, and is expected to crest at 13.7 feet late tonight before falling. The Green River near Auburn is at 9,720 cfs and remains in minor flooding for the next few days. Authorities advise avoiding flooded areas and barricades. The National Weather Service said, "Significant rainfall over the past week has increased soil moisture to high levels across western Washington."
