A truck was caught in a sinkhole on Grand Concourse in the Bronx, resulting in temporary disruptions to water service in the surrounding area. According to ABC7NY, the incident, which occurred yesterday before the evening, caused traffic interruptions after the rear portion of the truck fell into a cavity formed by a water main break.

At the same time, Hotel 365 in Mott Haven was dealing with guest complaints related to the water shutoff. Bronx News 12 reported that the hotel’s receptionist, Jay Patel, said, “All the people are very uncomfortable because we don't have any water.” Patel noted that he first noticed the water issues around 11 a.m., around the same time as the truck’s fall. When he contacted the city crew working to repair the damaged street, they were unable to provide a specific timeline for restoration, stating, “we're going to solve it by tonight or tomorrow.”

Despite the incident, Con Edison confirmed that no gas or electrical damage was reported in the area. Patel, speaking on behalf of the hotel located near the disruption, managed guest concerns and requests for reimbursement. He told Bronx News 12, “They are demanding the refund too, but we have no idea how we can get, going to do that one.”

The Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Transportation were contacted for comment on the incident, but as of last night, neither had provided a response. This left residents and business owners near the sinkhole without clear information about when services or repairs might be restored, Bronx News 12 reported.
