In response to the severe flooding in the Snohomish area, the City of Snohomish, Washington-City Hall has announced a series of road closures that are essential for public safety. As per the City of Snohomish, Washington-City Hall, these closures affect major thoroughfares, including Marsh Road, Highway 9, Airport Way, as well as several local streets. Concerned citizens and commuters are being urged to avoid these areas to maintain safety and allow for emergency operations to proceed unimpeded.
According to a social media post from the City Hall, floodwaters are "dangerous and unpredictable," and the measures taken are meant to protect lives. Drivers who choose to circumvent the barricades or approach flooded areas not only risk their own lives but also potentially disrupt the efforts of emergency responders. The reminder is clear: "Don’t make a bad situation worse."
The current list of closures includes major routes such as the stretch of Highway 9 between the Bickford Avenue roundabout and the Lowell Larimer/Broadway (SR96) intersection, and Airport Way from Highway 9 to First Street. Also, a significant number of side streets have been shut off, including Pine Avenue from 55 Pine to Center Street and First Street between Avenue E and Second Street. A detailed account of these and additional street closures can be found on the City of Snohomish's official social media channels.
