Following a tension-filled standoff in Spring Valley, a man was taken into custody by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office yesterday. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the incident began just past the morning's first light, around 6:00 AM, when deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded to a call on the 1600 block of Canyon Road.

Alvaro Hernandez, born June 22, 2000, was identified as the person in violation of an active protective order, with witnesses claiming he was armed. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies swiftly initiated evacuations, moving residents and surrounding homes out of harm's way, guided by both urgency and caution.

Specialized units including the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT) and the Sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were summoned to manage the delicate situation. The standoff came to a resolution shortly after noon when Hernandez was apprehended without further incident.

A search of the premises revealed a loaded .40 caliber firearm, which, according to the sheriff's office, tied the suspect to multiple offenses. "Hernandez was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on numerous charges including violation of a protective order, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and violation of parole," as the San Diego County Sheriff's Office detailed.
