Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has made a new addition to the Fulton County Court of Common Pleas. Stacey S. Stiriz has been appointed to preside over the Probate and Juvenile Division, starting January 12, 2026. She steps into the role left vacant by Judge Michael J. Bumb, who recently resigned from his position, according to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
Stiriz, a Delta native, comes to the bench with a wealth of experience behind her. She began her law career in private practice before moving into public service. Since 2004, Stiriz has been sharpening her legal acumen, and she served as an assistant prosecutor in Williams County in 2017 before transitioning to her current role as the assistant prosecutor for Fulton County. She's set to serve out the remainder of Judge Bumb's term, which will require her to campaign for election in November 2026 if she wishes to continue serving on the bench.
The new appointee's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in criminology from Eastern Michigan University, obtained in 1999, followed by her juris doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2004. Her mix of private sector and prosecutorial experience will now contribute to her latest endeavor within the judicial system.
