A man accused of attempted kidnapping was shot by Henderson police and is in critical but stable condition. As reported by FOX 5 Vegas, on Sunday morning, officers responding to the 1000 block of Center Street found him trying to force a woman into his vehicle. When he drove toward the officers despite orders to stop, they fired their weapons. The suspect initially fled but was later found at his home after another 911 call.
According to News 3 LV, the suspect, now at UMC, was shot but initially escaped the scene. This marks Henderson’s third officer-involved shooting this year. Following standard procedure, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave. Authorities are still determining the relationship between the suspect and the woman.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about domestic violence. Captain Haven Tillman of the Henderson Police Department urged anyone facing abuse to seek help: If you are experiencing domestic violence, please leave if you can and call 911. There are many resources available. The department also reminded the public that its Victim/Witness Advocate Program provides support to victims, witnesses, and their families.
