The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, alongside the Greene County Sheriff's Department, is probing into the causes of a fatal house fire that occurred yesterday morning. The incident, which claimed the life of 66-year-old Scott Hollenbeck, took place at a residence on Goddard Drive. As stated by Sheriff Wesley Holt in an announcement cited by WVLT, a call reporting the fire was received around 1 a.m., following which first responders arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, local firefighters from several volunteer departments including Tusculum, Camp Cree, Debusk, and Sunnyside, as well as the Greeneville City Fire Department, managed to extinguish the fire swiftly. According to a report by WATE, the call to 911 was placed by the victim's brother, who was startled awake by a loud noise upstairs, discovering the home filled with smoke and a fire in his brother's bedroom; the deadly circumstances prevented him from rendering any aid.

The body of Hollenbeck was located in the upstairs bedroom, and subsequently taken to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy and formal identification, as informed by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Hollenbeck," said Holt, extending condolences to the bereaved family, as noted by WVLT. Investigators from the TBI are collaborating closely with local authorities to ascertain the cause of the fire, which, at this time, remains undetermined.
