Attorney General Ken Paxton has informed Texans about how to claim a portion of a $700 million settlement with tech giant Google. The payout follows findings that Google violated antitrust laws, engaging in practices that restricted competition in mobile app distribution and in-app payments on Android devices. Paxton urged affected Texans to submit claims to receive their share of the settlement.
Texans eligible for the settlement can expect to receive an email from PayPal or a text message from Venmo with details about their payment, sent to the email or phone number associated with their Google Play accounts. For those whose contact information has changed or who do not use PayPal or Venmo, the state offers a supplemental claims process to ensure funds reach those who missed the initial distribution, according to the Texas Attorney General’s office.
Individuals expecting payments only need to set up or link their PayPal or Venmo accounts to receive their funds. Those who wish to pursue separate legal action against Google must opt out of the settlement by February 19, 2026. That date is also the deadline for anyone who wants to object to the settlement terms.
On April 30, 2026, the court will review the settlement for approval. Consumers interested in the supplemental claims process can submit their name, email, and phone number on the settlement’s website. The process is intended to ensure affected Texans can claim their share and promote fair competition in the Texas app marketplace.
