A Border Patrol K9 signaled to Troopers during the stop, prompting a search that revealed 23 migrants inside the truck, Fox San Antonio reported. They were from Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. The incident highlights ongoing human smuggling operations despite declining border crossings.
Bodycam footage showed the cramped conditions inside the semi. The 23 migrants were taken into federal custody. Driver John Amaya, 24, faces 23 counts of human smuggling.
