The Livermore Police Department has apprehended two juvenile males following a string of vehicle thefts that have plagued the city in recent weeks, with the Contra Costa County SWAT Team playing a pivotal role in the arrests. According to a social media post by the Livermore Police Department, a series of Infiniti vehicle thefts and attempted thefts occurred between October 17 and October 19, which prompted investigative efforts across multiple jurisdictions.
Through surveillance and inter-agency cooperation, investigators were to quickly identify a vehicle registered in Richmond that was potentially linked to the crimes. The two suspects, aged 16 and 17 from Richmond and San Pablo, respectively, were charged with various counts, including vehicle theft, conspiracy, and attempted vehicle theft. Spiraling across counties, the investigation implicated one of the juveniles in additional vehicle thefts in the Town of Danville, where a stolen carbon-fiber Infiniti hood was found installed on the suspect's vehicle.
"This investigation is a clear example of the persistence and dedication our department brings to every case," Livermore Police Chief Jeramy Young stated in the official LPD update. The Livermore Police also recognized the cooperative efforts put forth by other law enforcement agencies, including the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, the Danville Police Department, the San Pablo Police Department, and the Richmond Police Department.
