Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has handpicked Vanessa Manley to spearhead the Mayor's Office of Constituent Services as its new Executive Director. Manley is tasked with leading the front-line efforts in community engagement, ensuring residents across all of Atlanta's neighborhoods have access to necessary city resources and services. This includes overseeing the Mayor’s Housing Help Center, organizing activities like Midnight Basketball to tackle crime's roots, and coordinating key events aimed at maintaining the city's cultural heritage, such as the Mayor's Senior Ball.
Appointed to bridge the gaps between the city hall and its people, Manley will direct the Community Engagement Team, striving to strengthen this crucial relationship. Serving on the front lines, having these "boots on the ground" allows for a more direct interaction and response system for the community's needs. According to a statement released by the City of Atlanta, Mayor Dickens expressed his confidence in Manley’s ability "to bring government closer to the people," praising her compassion and understanding of community needs.
Boasting over two decades of public service, Manley has cemented her reputation in various roles focused on community interaction and enrichment. Before her new position, she championed the role as Atlanta’s Director of Customer Service and Constituent Support, responsible for customer relations and a plethora of community-centric programs. Her resume includes past senior leadership within the Atlanta City Council and a more than ten-year stint in the Mayor's Office, where she managed major public events and fortified city partnerships.
Upon her appointment, Manley shared her commitment to making city government both responsive and accessible for every resident. "I am deeply honored to serve as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services for the City of Atlanta," Manley told the City of Atlanta. In her role, she will be emphasizing resident-centered service, expanding community partnerships, and boosting neighborhood engagement.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, Manley is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
