
The City of Warren recently recognized Mark Carr and Evette Szajna for their support of the local police department’s K-9 Unit. According to a city press release, the founders of the nonprofit Szajna-Carr For the Paws were honored with a proclamation by Mayor Lori M. Stone on Thursday.
Warren natives Carr and Szajna have focused their efforts through their all-volunteer organization, providing equipment and supplies to K-9 units both in Michigan and beyond. According to the press release, their donations include first-aid supplies, protective gear, and training tools, helping to address gaps often caused by limited departmental budgets.
In a proclamation, Mayor Stone recognized Mark and Evette for their support of officer safety and assistance to K-9 teams. The couple also participates in K-9 trainings and community events as part of their ongoing involvement.
Beyond providing donations, Mark and Evette participate in K-9 activities, maintaining a hands-on role with the police department. As per the press release, Police Commissioner Eric Hawkins expressed appreciation for Szajna-Carr For the Paws and their contributions to the daily work of K-9 officers and their handlers.
The City of Warren has formally recognized Szajna-Carr For the Paws through this proclamation, noting the organization’s contributions to K-9 readiness and its support for the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
