The Food and Drug Administration recently issued a public health notice regarding a recall of Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts in certain states. Mellace Family Brands California, based in Ohio, is recalling the products, sold exclusively at Wegmans stores, over potential Salmonella contamination. According to CBS News, the recall covers 34-oz tubs and 11.5-oz bags sold in nine states and Washington, D.C., between November 3 through last Monday.
The recall was initiated after routine testing of the raw pistachios used in the mixed nuts tested positive for Salmonella. The Food and Drug Administration noted that no illnesses have been reported so far but advised consumers not to eat the product. Wegmans is offering full refunds for any affected items, and customers are encouraged to stop using the product and return it to the store where it was purchased.
The recalled products include the 34-oz tub with UPC code 077890421314 and the 11.5-oz bag with UPC code 077890421352, featuring best-by dates of July 28 and August 10, 2026, respectively. As per ABC7NY, these items were sold at Wegmans locations in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Salmonella can be especially dangerous for young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, which can escalate into more severe illness if not addressed. The FDA advises anyone who may have eaten the recalled nuts to seek medical care if they experience any of these symptoms.
