A crash on San Antonio’s far West Side has turned into a shooting investigation. Police say the crash happened just before they arrived, and a Ford F-250 involved in it drove away. The truck was found about a mile later with a man inside who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital and is in good condition. Detectives don’t yet know who shot him, and no one has been arrested as they continue to question witnesses and collect evidence, according to KENS5.
What Investigators Say
Officers were first called around noon to the 9200 block of Ridge Branch after a Ford F-250 reportedly sped away and struck two other vehicles, according to reporting by KENS5. Police say a man who was inside one of those vehicles told investigators he woke up after hearing a gunshot and denied firing any weapon; that man is being detained while detectives work to piece together his story. The department had not made any arrests as of the latest update, KENS5 reported.
"It is still unclear who fired the weapon," detectives told KENS5. In the same account, officers later found the F-250 about a mile away near a Valero in the 9600 block of Culebra Road, where a woman at the scene was detained for questioning and a man in the pickup was discovered with gunshot wounds to his back.

Local station KSAT reported that an SAPD sergeant told the station the pickup's owner fired at a man who was allegedly trying to break into the vehicle, hitting both the man and the truck. According to KSAT, the wounded man then took off in a white Ford pickup and blew a tire at a nearby gas station before officers caught up with him. The station adds that the owner is not facing charges at this time while authorities continue interviews.
SAPD says the investigation remains active as detectives comb the two scenes and review evidence. Officials have not released the names of those involved, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact San Antonio police. There have been no confirmed arrests in the case so far.
