Deputy Chief Matthew Sicilia of the Wildwood Police Department graduated from the FBI National Academy. The ceremony took place last Thursday, at the Academy in Quantico, Virginia, with law enforcement professionals from across the country in attendance.
The City of Wildwood Police Department shared via social media post that Deputy Chief Sicilia’s graduation continues a legacy within the department. The FBI National Academy selects fewer than one percent of officers nationwide.
The FBI National Academy is internationally recognized for its academic programs and provides 11 weeks of training in advanced communication, leadership, and physical fitness. Participants are required to have a proven professional record, with an average of 21 years in law enforcement, and often move into executive-level positions after completing the program.
The 296th session of the FBI National Academy trained 254 officers from across the United States, representing 47 states and the District of Columbia, as well as personnel from 24 countries, four military organizations, and two federal civilian agencies. Chief Murphy recognized Deputy Chief Sicilia’s achievement, noting that the Academy is one of the most selective executive leadership training programs for law enforcement worldwide and expressed anticipation for his return to Wildwood with new professional insights.
