Granger residents have a reason to celebrate as Williamson County, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, marked the completion of the FM 971 project with a ribbon-cutting event on Monday. This infrastructure enhancement promises smoother traffic flow and improved safety for the future students of Granger High School and the community at large. The upgrades include a new continuous left-turn lane and the addition of a right-turn lane leading into the still-to-be-constructed high school, as reported by Williamson County.

Aside from facilitating vehicular movement, the FM 971 project has introduced critical drainage enhancements near the future Granger High School site, addressing long-standing concerns over water management in the area. Russ Boles, the Commissioner for Precinct 4, expressed his gratitude toward Mills Construction, the project contractor, for finishing the work ahead of time. Progressing the community's interest, he mentioned, "The FM 971 project makes important additions to FM 971 through the construction of the left and right turn lanes into the new Granger High School,” according to a statement made by Williamson County.

For many constituents in east Williamson County, the project's timely conclusion represents a tangible result from voting in favor of the road bond. This outcome not only signifies progress but also stands as a testament to the county's pledge to prioritize critical infrastructure work. “I’m alsothankful for the Commissioners Court and voters for continuing to support these much-needed road projects in east Williamson County," Commissioner Boles said, as per Williamson County.
