The National Weather Service in Philadelphia has issued a wind advisory that remains firmly in effect from this morning at 10 AM until Tuesday at 1 PM EST. Those in the advisory area can expect west winds to blow 20 to 30 mph with possible gusts reaching up to a staggering 50 mph.
Residents throughout parts of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and southeastern Pennsylvania should brace to potentially grapple with the windy onslaught. According to the NWS Philadelphia's latest bulletin, "Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result." This makes securing outdoor items and preparing for intermittent power outages a priority for individuals in affected areas.
The forecast also indicates showers, primarily before 11 AM, with temperatures briefly rising to near 55 degrees before taking a sharp plunge to around 40 in the afternoon. Motorists should prepare for challenging conditions on the roads, particularly those maneuvering high profile vehicles, as driving may prove to be difficult.
Looking beyond the current wind advisory, the week's weather reveals a mix of partly cloudy and mostly sunny days, with Wednesday night temperatures dropping to around 25 degrees. Notably, New Year's Day and the following Friday both promise mostly sunny conditions with highs hovering near 31. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution," the NWS advisory warns, spotlighting the potential vehicular hazards posed by the strong gusts.
As the local areas brace for the impactful weather conditions, precautions and additional safety measures are advised. For continual updates and any sudden changes to the weather forecast, individuals should closely monitor communications from the National Weather Service.
