Wyoming, Ohio’s Beautification Awards have always been a source of local pride – a celebration of the community's commitment to aesthetics and charm. This year's recipient of the Architecture Award, bestowed upon homeowners who have elevated the visual landscape, is Nik & Linda Nikolaidis of 79 Bonham Rd. Their restoration efforts have turned a 1926 house into a modern-day marvel.
The Nikolaidis family moved into their home in 2011 with eyes wide open to the work that lay ahead. They were drawn by the desire for quality education but quickly became stewards of architectural heritage. According to a social media post by Wyoming Ohio, Linda stated, “We wanted to move into a good school district so we bought the house knowing it would be a lot of work. And it has been!”
The rejuvenation of their home was not a solitary journey. A valuable partnership with Sara Aschliman played a critical role, who, as they remodeled, rendered their visions into reality. The Nikolaidis' profound appreciation for both the assistance they received and the materials that make their house stand out reflects the community's ethos of collaboration and quality. They opted for Cumara Hardwood for the stunning exterior siding, while choosing Hardie Board for its reliable insulation.
Nik & Linda’s experience, as detailed in Wyoming Ohio’s announcement, speaks to a truth known by those who embark on such voyages of renovation—the outcome is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. "We got the school AND a beautiful house," Linda acknowledged, a testament to the couple's dedication to both their child's education and their home's rejuvenation. Capturing both these aspirations, the house at 79 Bonham Rd now stands as a symbol of rejuvenation, a physical manifestation of the family's fervor and an embodiment of the Wyoming community's values.
