After a hiatus stretching over three decades, the '90s alternative rock band Sugar, led by frontman Bob Mould of Hüsker Dü fame, is set to ignite stages once again with the announcement of their "Love You Even Still 2026 World Tour." According to MassLive, this marks the group's return to live performances since their breakup in 1995, promising fans a chance to relive the band’s glory days with tour dates spanning from New York to Athens, Georgia, and including a notable stop at Roadrunner in Boston on October 17.

Complementing their anticipated tour, Sugar has released a new track titled “Long Live Love,” available for streaming across all platforms; the music single was produced by none other than Garbage’s Butch Vig. Fans of the '90s rock scene were excited to learn that in addition to the digital release, a limited 7” vinyl featuring both “Long Live Love” and “House Of Dead Memories” can be snagged on Sugar’s website. As reported by Syracuse.com, Sugar also added an Upstate New York gig to their tour, set to perform at the Basilica Hudson in Hudson on October 18.

Tickets for the tour are already in high demand with initial shows in New York and London completely sold out; music enthusiasts can head on over to sugarcopperblue.com starting January 27 for presale options, joining the feverish clamber to snap up seats for the rock band’s much-awaited live return. "I wrote ‘Long Live Love’ in 2007 while living in Washington D.C.," and "It was the George W. Bush era, I was deep in my DJ world with Blowoff, yet still writing pop songs on guitars," Mould explained, saying the track "reminds me of a long lost Garbage song," in a statement obtained by Syracuse.com.

The trio, which includes Mould, bassist David Barbe, and drummer Malcolm Travis, initially disbanded in 1995 after riding the Alternative Airplay charts with hits like “Helpless” and “Your Favorite Thing” furthermore they caught eyeballs with their MTV-featured music video for “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.” Mould, a punk rock pioneer who found his footing in the rural soils of Malone in Franklin County, delved into his passions as a teenager, attributing his career's inception to a vinyl of the Ramones his father gifted him. “When I heard the Ramones, that was the moment when I realized that it was actually easier than it seemed," Mould conveyed during an interview chronicled by Syracuse.com.

With sights set on their global tour, Sugar is poised to contribute a portion of their proceeds to LGBTQ+ support organizations, relaying their presence not just on the music charts, but within the larger tapestry of societal impact. The melodies of the '90s that captured the hearts of an avid fan base are ready to reverberate once again, through the halls of Webster Hall come May and culminating in the historic walls of the Georgia Theatre at October's end, a testament to the undying spirit of rock and community support.
