
A stabbing incident near Garfield Elementary School in Alhambra prompted an intense police response and a lockdown of the school on Tuesday afternoon, officials said. According to CBS News Los Angeles, the event occurred around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Spruce Street. Upon their arrival, Alhambra Police discovered a male victim with a stab wound who was then transported to a local hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
The lockdown was executed, as a precautionary measure, to "ensure the safety of students and staff," said a police news release, while they, the police, initiated a search for the suspect, described as a man wearing all black clothing. No students, teachers, or parents were directly involved in the stabbing incident, and no injuries were reported within the school, as stated in the release obtained by KTLA.
As the search unfolded, the nearby elementary school completed the lockdown procedures, securing the students before they were subsequently released one by one to their parents or guardians.
