BART, in a unique collaboration with SF Sketchfest, is set to host "SF Sketchfest: On the Rails," a comedy extravaganza aboard a moving train on January 24. The event will embark and conclude its humorous journey at the 12th St./Oakland City Center Station, with the curtains raising at 2 PM and the final bow at 4:30 PM, as announced by BART's official news release.
Offering a distinct silent disco twist to the live performance scene, this comedy special will feature sets from Brent Weinbach, Brittany Carney, Natasha Vinik, and Hunaid Shakoor, their acts streamed straight to audience members' ears via headphones, which undeniably is a creative measure to contain the laughter within the confines of the train and kind of surprising that no one thought of it before this, which might be because it's quite logistical nightmare. As noted in a social media post by SFBART, tickets are priced at $20 and are currently on sale exclusively through Railgoods.com; they will not be available for purchase on-site on the day of the show, and they are predicted to be a hit, given the novelty of the event, so snagging them sooner rather than later would be wisest.

BART has been on a roll with its community-focused programming efforts, orchestrating various on-train events such as the "Valentraine" speed-dating event and the cosmically-themed May the Fourth ride, all of which fall in line with BART's objective to revamp its image as a transit system that's not only safe and clean but also inherently enjoyable for all ages, according to a statement by Dave Martindale, Director of Marketing at BART, in the news release from BART's website.
