Nickolas Alexander Edwards was arrested on Thursday by the Portland Police and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Auto Theft Task Force for a series of utility trailer thefts in Oregon and Washington. Despite wearing a court-ordered GPS ankle monitor, Edwards allegedly continued his criminal activities, leading to his arraignment on Friday with a $100,000 bail, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
Edwards has multiple charges in Multnomah, Washington, Marion Counties in Oregon, and Clark County, Washington, dating back to 2024, involving dozens of trailer thefts causing significant financial losses. In one notable incident on March 4, 2025, detailed in PC Affidavit case 25CR17473, Edwards reportedly stole a utility trailer while being tracked by GPS, which confirmed his presence at the crime scenes, including instances where he allegedly resold and re-stole trailers, as reported by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
Edwards’ GPS anklet placed him at multiple cargo trailer thefts: a $6,000 trailer on October 19, 2025, a Wells Cargo 2001 trailer worth $4,000 on November 3, 2025, another high-value trailer on November 10, 2025, and a trailer on Wednesday in NE Prescott, Portland. He was arrested after a chase and a hit-and-run with a stolen trailer. The MCDA Auto Theft Task Force asks anyone who may be a victim to contact [email protected] and noted the cooperation of local law enforcement. All suspects, including Edwards, are presumed innocent until proven guilty, as stated by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
