Witnesses reported multiple shots and a chaotic scene as people scrambled for safety. Aurora police say the suspects sped off in a vehicle and have not been identified, and detectives are now asking anyone with information to step forward.
Where and When It Happened
Aurora police say the shooting happened around 9 a.m. Saturday inside a unit at the Preserve at City Centre, located at 1076 S. Elkhart St. in central Aurora. The victim, identified only as a man visiting residents at the apartment, was inside when additional unknown individuals arrived, and a verbal argument broke out. According to the department’s account, the dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, and at some point, a suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire, as detailed by Sentinel Colorado.
Police Account and Victim Status
"The suspects left in a silver sedan and have not been identified," Aurora police spokesperson Matthew Wells-Longshore said. The wounded man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, where he remains under care. Investigators say they do not yet know whether the visitor was the intended target or what exactly triggered the confrontation. Witnesses reported hearing multiple rounds before the silver sedan took off from the scene, according to Sentinel Colorado.
