The streets of Memphis resonated with the sound of bagpipes as The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Ceremonial Guard Pipes and Drums, alongside the Knoxville Pipes and Drums, took the lead in the 67th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Parade on New Year's Day. The law enforcement group, donning their traditional attire, marched with pride, inaugurating the procession that celebrates the storied history of the Liberty Bowl.
In a display of gratitude, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office turned to social media to express their sense of honor for having been chosen to start off the festivities. "On January 1st, 2026, The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was honored to lead the 67th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Parade," they posted on Facebook. Indeed, it was not just an opportunity to march, but to symbolically march together with the citizens, epitomizing community spirit amidst the echoes of bagpipes.
Extending thanks to the organizers and supporters, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office concluded their Facebook update, "Thank you to AutoZone Liberty Bowl, the City of Memphis, and everyone who came out to support this long-standing event. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and celebrate with our community."
