El Dorado Hills is about to lose a favorite neighborhood hangout, with Bella Bru Café set to close its Park Drive location after service wraps up on Saturday.
As reported by The Sacramento Bee, the El Dorado Hills branch, operated as a franchise by Chris Kado, will shut its doors after final service this Saturday. According to the Bee, the café shared on its social channels that the "headwinds and challenges of running a small business in California" pushed management to make the call.
Other Bella Bru Outposts Remain Open
Fans of Bella Bru will not be entirely out of luck. The company has confirmed that its Carmichael and Natomas locations will stay open, and the owners publicly thanked staff and customers for years of support, according to Folsom Times. The outlet notes that Bella Bru encouraged neighbors to drop by the Park Drive café before it closes so staff can say their goodbyes face to face.
Customers React Online
The announcement hit regulars hard, and the café's social media post was quickly flooded with comments and memories. "Best quiche ever!!!! going to miss you guys," one patron wrote. Another added, "for 28 years you have been there (like a trusted friend). you will be missed," as reported by The Sacramento Bee.
Roots in Carmichael and Catering
Bella Bru traces its origins to a Carmichael storefront opened by Elizabeth "Liz" Mishler in the early 1990s, according to WeddingWire. The company website lists its Carmichael and Natomas cafés and also highlights related ventures that include the Milagro Event Center and the Luna Lounge near Carmichael.
Final Days
The El Dorado Hills location will continue serving through Saturday's final service, and the owners said they are "deeply grateful" to employees and longtime regulars, Folsom Times reports. After the Park Drive shop goes dark, customers looking for Bella Bru's breakfast and lunch staples can still find them at the Carmichael and Natomas cafés listed on the chain's website.
