Collaboration between local law enforcement and businesses has once again proved fruitful in the City of Benicia. According to a social media post from the Benicia Police Department, an arrest was made last Saturday after a suspect attempted to consign stolen goods at a local store. The stolen items, precious custom-made guitars valued at over $120,000, had originally been taken from the residence of a deceased person in the East Bay back in August 2025.

A vigilant family member took the initiative to alert Bay Area businesses with detailed descriptions of the looted items, which would later prove crucial in recovering these belongings. A business owner in Benicia was able to recognize one of the guitars brought to them, thanks in part to this groundwork. This lead enabled the Benicia Police Department to arrange for the suspect to return to the store with another guitar, in hopes of consigning it, which was quickly identified as another piece of the stolen cache. It was at that moment that BPD intervened and took the suspect into custody.

Further details revealed by the Benicia Police Department's arrest records identify the suspect as 46-year-old Brie Madders Seccombe, apprehended at 5:56 PM on the 900 Block of Tyler St. Seccombe, described as a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes, now faces charges under the penal code 496(a), which pertains to the reception or concealment of known stolen property.
