The Bensalem Police Department has relayed information that might prompt a small sigh of relief among local residents concerned about crime, as they've reported a significant decline in criminal activity for the year of 2025. According to a post from the Bensalem Police Department's Facebook page, the rates of serious and violent crimes, referred to as Part 1 crimes, decreased by more than 30% from the previous year. This drop includes a notable 50% reduction in instances of robberies, and burglaries.
The police department attributes this success in part to their staff's proactive efforts in the community. For example, the "Bensalem Secure" program has been cited as a factor in reducing retail theft by 24%. The Director of Bensalem Police, Director McVey, has commended the police force for clearing 49% of Part 1 crimes, which, he asserts is a testament to their commitment to maintaining public safety.
Acknowledging the communal effort, Director McVey, together with the Command Staff, have extended their gratitude towards Mayor DiGirolamo, the Bensalem Council, and the entire community for their unwavering support.
