Bloomington's very own public health nurse Aarin Urevig has been a lifeline for local families, dedicating over four years to guiding parents through everything from pregnancy to the early stages of their children’s lives. This dedication isn't just a nine-to-five for Urevig; as reported by the City of Bloomington, their work in the Family Home Visiting program is backed by a genuine passion to "help families" and ensure "every parent has what they need to give their child a healthy start."
A recent achievement by Urevig is the completion of a Master of Public Health, specializing in maternal and child health and public policy, a testament to their commitment to enhancing community health from multiple angles, not only does this new academic laurel enable Urevig to influence breastfeeding support and push for more equitable care but it represents a fortification of their expertise in public health policymaking and partnerships. Beyond the health clinic, Urevig wears an entirely different hat, serving as a food advisor in the Minnesota National Guard where the safety of food and water for service members falls under their purview.
It's not all work for this public health powerhouse though; when off-duty, Urevig finds solace in house projects and nature, recently traveling to the Amazon rainforest, mastering the art of relaxation with a chai latte and treasured moments with their parrot, Char. Their love for the outdoors extends to camping trips, just another facet of a life led with an appreciation for both the bustling metropolis and the tranquility of nature.
