The famed Carolina chicken joint, Bojangles, is making waves in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, as it opens its first New York City location. The southern fast-food chain, known for its crispy chicken and biscuits, has launched a 24-hour outpost located at 5910 Church Avenue. According to Eater, the new spot started serving customers on Monday, January 12, with the dining room available until midnight and the drive-thru open round-the-clock.
Behind this expansion is restaurateur Habib Hashimi and his Hashimi Holding Corporation, who is steering the helm of the franchise's return to the city. With a strategy to open 19 more Bojangles locations across New York, Hashimi's plan signals a robust commitment to the New York market. "This isn’t the first time Bojangles has been in New York — there were locations back in the 1980s," reports Eater, emphasizing the chain's storied history with the city.
In an interview, CEO of Bojangles Jose Armario expressed the significance of their NYC endeavor, stating, "Opening in New York is a powerful moment for Bojangles and a meaningful step in our journey to become a truly national brand." He added, "We’re excited to bring our Southern roots, bold flavors and hospitality to one of the most iconic markets in the world, and to grow alongside a franchise partner who shares our vision for what Bojangles can be." This statement was obtained by Chain Store Age.
The East Flatbush venue operates non-stop, shutting its dining room when the clock strikes midnight, while its drive-thru keeps serving customers all day and night. "This opening is about more than just great Bojangles chicken and biscuits – it’s a celebration of joining the East Flatbush community and bringing our food and philosophy to New York neighbors everywhere," Habib Hashimi told Chain Store Age. Founded in 1977, Bojangles now operates over 850 locations and, as noted by Chain Store Age, was considering a business sale last summer as fried chicken continues to gain popularity.
