Residents of West Roxbury experienced community policing and career guidance earlier today, as Boston Police Department’s District E-5 hosted a pop-up outreach event at the local post office. The initiative is part of BPD’s broader effort to engage with the community, share public safety information, and promote career opportunities within the department.
The gathering allowed officers to offer insight into various roles available for those considering a career in law enforcement – from patrol officers to crossing guards – amid the department's push for recruiting new talent. Alongside career talks, the pop-up also served as a resource hub for scam prevention and general safety, aligning with the BPD’s preventative approach to crime and community well-being. According to the police department's website, citizens were encouraged to "be on the lookout for more pop-up sites from our officers in a neighborhood near you!"
Those who were unable to attend the event but are interested in pursuing a career with the police department are encouraged to note the upcoming Civil Service Exam scheduled for March. For general safety information, please visit bpdnews.com/tips to learn more about ways to remain safe.
