Buckley Police Department has confirmed the recent seizure of over a hundred cats living in squalid conditions with three adults in a local residence. This intervention, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Department Blotter, was initiated following an anonymous tip that shed light on the dire situation.
Upon inspection, officials determined the environment was unfit for both humans, and animals. The Pierce County Animal Control was called to the scene, and after a warrant was obtained, all cats were removed from the residence. During the operation, each cat was placed in a crate, photographed, documented, and underwent health evaluations. "Many of the cats are suffering from a variety of health conditions," the Pierce County Sheriff's Office Blotter reported, with several requiring immediate medical attention.
The investigation into this case continues and will eventually be handed over to a prosecutor for further action, which could include possible charges. Details concerning this process remain pending.
As the story unfolds, Buckley PD has reached out to the community, seeking support in the form of small animal crate donations. These crates are crucial for the transport and temporary housing of the felines. "All donated crates can be dropped off at the Buckley Police Station during business hours," the Pierce County Sheriff's Office Blotter states. In terms of adoption, the authorities are working on distributing the rescued cats to local animal rescues, shelters, or humane societies, acknowledging that no singular facility is capable of accommodating the sheer number of affected animals.
