A Carroll County woman, identified as Selina Mui, is facing multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, following an alleged attack on her teenage son. According to details from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, reported by WBAL-TV, the incident occurred on Monday morning in the 2900 block of Cameron Drive. Both the mother and son were transported to Shock Trauma for treatment of their injuries.

During the deputies' investigation, the son recounted how he woke up to his mother attacking him with a knife, resulting in him sustaining multiple injuries. Mui is also charged with second-degree child abuse and first-degree assault. Throughout the ordeal that lasted roughly 30 minutes, the boy was stabbed and later reported to have been strangled with his own shirt, as well as his hands, which were gathered from a report by WMAR2 News.

Mui had reportedly planned to commit suicide initially, but according to the charging documents, she decided to also kill her son. "When police interviewed Mui, she initially told officers she wanted to kill herself. Throughout the night, she decided she would kill her son and then herself," stated the charging documents obtained by WMAR2 News. During the early morning, after her husband had left for work, she wrote a note apologizing to him before commencing her attack on her son.

The confrontation between mother and son ended in the kitchen, where the son managed to grab a knife to defend himself, leading to an end to the violent struggle. He told his mother that he loved her and suggested that they should talk, which halted the attack. The son then called 911, as reported by charging documents. Mui, a substitute teacher for Carroll County Public Schools since 2016, has since been released from Shock Trauma, while the victim remains hospitalized, according to a spokesperson for the school system, as told to WBAL-TV.
